Alumni Support Makes All the Difference

JTS alumni honor their alma mater every day in countless ways—living lives of integrity, compassion, and respect; serving as anchors of the Jewish community—as both professional and lay leaders, teaching Torah in its broadest sense, bringing others into deeper engagement with Judaism, leading efforts to improve the world.

Ensuring the “Smell of Shabbos” Lives On

During a prospective student weekend, Eytan Kenter walked into the former Mathilde Schechter Residence Hall and said, “It smells like Shabbos! This is where I’m going to go.” Fittingly, the Kenter family has now dedicated a mezuzah affixed to the door of a residence hall kitchen.

In Gratitude to JTS and Ramah

JTS and Camp Ramah have had a powerful influence on three generations of the Hammerman family. In gratitude, Rabbi Richard and Sharon Freiberg Hammerman made a gift to the Crossroads Campaign, JTS’s ongoing capital campaign, to creatively benefit both institutions.

Cantors Support the Next Generation

JTS cantorial students will have access to a new space created just for them, thanks to the generosity of cantors who came before them. Cantor David Lipp and Hazzan Alisa Pomerantz-Boro each made a generous gift to The Green Room, a dedicated space in the new JTS auditorium where students can prepare for presentations and recitals.
