Low Residency Mekhinah

Applications are no longer being accepted for Spring 2024. Please check back for updates and dates for our Fall 2024 cohort.

For those interested in pursuing a Rabbinical School education and becoming a rabbi but need extra preparation (mekhinah), consider the Low Residency Mekhinah program.

In this program, you’ll be able to learn with JTS faculty, receive spiritual mentorship and direction, and engage in self-study during this semester-long low residency opportunity.

Through our Low Residency Mekhinah program, you’ll be able to build your Hebrew language and Rabbinic text skills while increasing your familiarity with Jewish practice.

Low residency: Continue working and living your life without immediately relocating to New York full-time. Participants in this semester-long program will meet at the beginning of each semester for one week in New York followed by cohort, hevrutah, and independent learning over zoom.

Low cost: Invest in your future studies at JTS with this low-cost commitment of $1,800. Participants who enroll in the JTS Rabbinical School will have their Mekhinah contribution deducted from your Year One tuition. Students who have financial need should reach out to Admissions: rsadmissions@jtsa.edu

Cohort based: Cohorts will be selected through an application process. Meet with your fellow students and on a regular basis (as frequently as once a week) with a JTS coach.

Coach Led: Cohorts will be led by a rabbinic mentor selected by JTS. Your coach may provide spiritual direction and reflective practices.
