The Torah Fund Pin-Packing Project Progresses at Jewish Theological Seminary
Posted on Nov 20, 2024

The past several years I have volunteered to be a Torah Fund “pin packer.” The process of distributing the pins takes place at the end of the summer, once the pins arrive from Israel and after affiliate Torah Fund chairs have submitted their pin quantities. I signed up for September 10, the first day of packing, and we eagerly got to work. I had the pleasure of volunteering with Debbie Bettan, Barbara Kaplan, Esta Lichtenstein, and Helaine Rosen, and we were expertly guided by Sherrill Moss-Solomon, Torah Fund finance manager. We were able to pack all the pins; more pins arrived later that day to supply the packers scheduled for September 11, Teri Fields, Sheila Blutstein-Green, Sue Kheel, Linda Klempner, Sandy Koppell, Ilene Rothman, and Lynette Seader. Torah Fund provided a delicious lunch for the volunteers both days. The first day we had Israeli food and wonderful cookies and pastries.
If you can volunteer to help pack the pins next year, I urge you to do so. The feeling of satisfaction in accomplishing this project, interacting with women you have not yet met from Women’s League, and reconnecting with former packers and friends is just irresistible! The photos show all the happy packers.
