March 2025 / A Spotlight on Our 2024–2026 Torah Fund Region Vice Presidents
Posted on Mar 12, 2025

Good volunteers are the lifeline of Torah Fund. Enjoy getting to know our 2024–2026 Torah Fund region vice presidents! We will keep you informed on their progress as they create relationships with affiliate Torah Fund volunteers and help affiliates meet or exceed Torah Fund goals.
We have thirteen remarkable women in this talented group. Three offered to be part of my article: Ellen Weiss, Seaboard region; Shula Fleischer, Florida region; and Adele Weinstein, International Northeast region. I asked them for their feedback on these three items: What do you enjoy most about your Torah Fund position? What experience in the past, whether professional or personal, helps you in your position? Describe something about yourself that would surprise us or that makes you special to those who love you.
These three accomplished women responded with their own unique perspectives.
Ellen Weiss: “I love meeting new people, talking one-on-one, and sharing Torah Fund information. I enjoy serving on our region board to discuss and plan, and the opportunity to meet and work with the wonderful women on the Women’s League board and Torah Fund Cabinet.
“My first “job” in my affiliate, Chizuk Amuno Congregation in Baltimore, was my first real exposure to Torah Fund, the region, and Women’s League. My organizational skills and Excel knowledge helped me do the job.
“I tutor elementary school students in reading through a national program called Reading Partners. I love it! Working to make a difference in my corner has kept me grounded and sane.”
Shula Fleischer: “I enjoy meeting all the dedicated and enthusiastic women. Also, I like learning how important Torah Fund donations are to the seminary students, and knowing we are perpetuating the education of the next generation of Jewish leaders.
“Serving as Torah Fund vice president in my affiliate B’nai Torah in Boca Raton helped me understand what the current affiliate Torah Fund vice presidents and chairs may need in their work.
“Most people don’t know that I served in the Israeli Air Force and handled communications related to requests for electronic parts for aircraft. After two wonderful years of achievement and growth, I simultaneously got my discharge and teaching degree.”
Adele Weinstein: “I enjoy meeting other Torah Fund region vice presidents who support each other in our common goal of raising money for Torah Fund.
“Being sisterhood president of my affiliate, Beth Tikvah Women in Toronto, for seven years helped me gain confidence and knowledge of how to motivate others and simultaneously be supportive.
“I love to sing, especially Hebrew music. I sing soprano in my synagogue choir and performed a solo, Avinu She ba’Shamayim (a prayer for Israel) during Rosh Hashana services for the past two years.”
Let’s hear it for these three amazing women! Torah Fund would not be able to support our five schools of Conservative Judaism without our thirteen region vice presidents. Are YOU interested in becoming a future Torah Fund region vice president? Am Yisrael Chai!
