Rachel Rosenthal, PhD, Kekst Graduate School

Posted on Jun 04, 2019

Growing up in New York City, Rachel Rosenthal had a childhood that was infused with Jewish experience, but she didn’t fall in love with Talmud until after college. After studying at the Drisha Institute for Jewish Education, she decided to pursue a PhD in Rabbinic Literature at the Gershon Kekst Graduate School, because “if you want to go somewhere that combines serious academic and text study, this is the only place you can come.” Next up for Rachel? She’ll be continuing her work at the Shalom Hartman Institute as a David Hartman Center Fellow, where she’s helping to translate academic work into texts accessible to the general public. She’ll also be staying close while serving as an adjunct assistant professor in the Talmud department at JTS.
