Are you interested in becoming a rabbi? Join us at our virtual open house for prospective students for an up-close look inside The Rabbinical School of JTS. Get to know our diverse community, connecting with deans, faculty, and current students. Experience our deep Torah and broad training, and see how our students develop the knowledge, spiritual awareness, and professional skills to become inspirational and innovative leaders.
Opportunities during the day include:
- Talking with The Rabbinical School deans
- Talking with Vice Chancellor Rabbi Gordon Tucker
- Joining one of our minyans (virtually of course)
- Discussing issues of the day with Rabbis Jan Uhrbach and Rafi Cohen
- Meeting alumni in the field and more

Sample Schedule for an In-Person Visit
To help you envision “a day in the life…” please consider the following sample schedule:
7:30 a.m. Morning Minyan, JTS Women’s League Seminary Synagogue
8:20 a.m. Breakfast/Tour/Meet with current student
8:40 a.m.-11:25 a.m. First Year Talmud class (Dr. Marjorie Lehman)
1:30 p.m. Get an Admissions and program overview with Rabbi Rafi Cohen, Director of Admissions
2:20 p.m. Mincha—Join afternoon minyan happening in Women’s League Seminary Synagogue
2:45 p.m. Visit an additional class or schedule time to learn more about:
- The Center for Pastoral Education—Rabbi Naomi Kalish
- MA in Jewish Education—Dr. Shira Epstein, Dean of the William Davidson Graduate School of Jewish Education
- Studies in Sacred Music—Cantor Nancy Abramson
