Would you like to read the Tanakh on your own without the need of a translation? In 10 live online sessions we will cover the “big ideas” in Biblical Hebrew to help you get started.

In addition to looking at the fundamentals such as nouns, verbs, and numbers, we will explore the genres of Biblical poetry, wisdom, prophecy, and history. The class will also introduce you to a variety of resources, including computer programs, that can support your study. Each session will consist of an instructor-led lesson followed by group workshopping of passages. You will also be encouraged to complete a short assignment outside of class.

Basic knowledge of Hebrew is required, meaning the ability to read words aloud and translate some of the most common words and phrases, e.g., אֶרֶץ (eretz / land) and וַיֹּאמֶר (vayomer / and he said).

Recordings will be available for those unable to attend a session.

Cost: $350 for ten sessions. (Limited financial assistance available.)
