Jeremiah has a score to settle with Israel’s wicked kings, its false prophets, and its treacherous neighbors. His ultimatum to them: repent, or God will toss you aside like spoiled figs. But speaking truth to power comes at a cost, as Jeremiah is seized in the Temple and condemned to die. In eight live online sessions, we will read the prophecies and narratives of Jeremiah 23–26. Our focus will be on the most challenging verses as we consider multiple possibilities for translation and interpretation. Participants are encouraged to develop and share their own translations and interpretations of this dramatic section of the Nevi’im (Prophets).
Recordings will be available for those unable to attend a session.
Prerequisites: Biblical Hebrew I (Jump Start) and Biblical Hebrew II (Workshop). If you have not completed these courses but believe you have the equivalent background, please schedule a conversation with the instructor prior to enrollment. Note: Certificate candidates must complete Biblical Hebrew III.
