Empowering the LGBTQ Jewish community

Rabbi Gil Steinlauf (RS ’98) is using his 2018 Seeds of Innovation grant to empower LGBTQ Jews to attain leadership positions in the Jewish community. The first cohort of Hineni Jewish LGBTQ Leadership Fellows began in fall 2018 with a retreat in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. The 26 DC area-based Hineni Fellows—up from an anticipated 15, due to the overwhelming number of talented applicants—gained insights and inspiration to engage proudly as LGBTQ Jews in new ways.
