Stay Tuned for New JTS Podcasts
We are moving further into podcasting, a medium that has exploded in popularity and that offers a powerful way to share JTS Torah beyond our campus. Last year we launched “Voice of the Prophet,” a dramatic reading of each week’s Haftarah portion that is designed to reclaim the message of the prophets for today. In the next month, we expect to release “Both/And,” a series of eight, 10-minute podcasts in which Chancellor Eisen explores the intellectual history of Conservative Judaism. The podcast actually grew out of a presentation the chancellor gave to the Board of Trustees and a suggestion by board member Dan Beller that we share it with the public.
Another new podcast, now in production, will feature a wide array of JTS faculty. Tentatively titled “What Now?” and hosted by William Davidson School graduate Sara Beth Berman, the series will explore how the Jewish tradition suggests we respond when things go wrong in our personal lives and in society. We recently recorded the first episode, with Professor Alan Mittelman, who describes Judaism as having a fundamentally hopeful view of the world. We look forward to hearing other faculty members bringing their unique perspectives to the conversation.
As soon as each new podcast is released, we will let you know.
