Teaching and learning are at the center of everything we do at The Jewish Theological Seminary. All of our courses and programs, whatever their level, maintain the highest standard of academic excellence and are taught by leaders in their academic fields.
Outside the classroom, we strive to create an environment that fosters the integration of intellectual pursuits with Jewish living— a community that nurtures both mind and spirit.
From the Rebecca and Israel Ivry Prozdor High School to the William Davidson Graduate School of Jewish Education and The Graduate School, it is possible to earn everything from a supplementary high school diploma straight to a PhD within the walls of 3080 Broadway. Rabbinic ordination and cantorial investiture, of course, are available through The Rabbinical School and the H. L. Miller Cantorial School and College of Jewish Music.
Regardless of how long you stay at JTS, your professors and colleagues will join you in creating a diverse, supportive environment where academic integrity and success are nurtured. For part-time and occasional students, we offer a full range of programs and courses designed to fit your needs. JTS also offers graduate distance learning programs for those who want to study online.
All academic and professional programs are enhanced by our affiliation with other institutions, including nearby Columbia University, Barnard College, and Union Theological Seminary.
JTS faculty are all leaders in their fields. They seek to foster a supportive environment in the classroom, where dialogue flows and every student is challenged to exceed their potential. JTS is proud of the postive and engaging dynamic that our professors cultivate with their students, as we believe students learn best when engaged with the material and their teachers.
