JTS Appoints Joseph Maybloom as Chief Enrollment Officer

Maybloom is being promoted from his role as Senior Director of Enrollment

July 6, 2023 — New York, NY The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS), one of the world’s preeminent centers of Jewish higher education, today announced that it has appointed Joe Maybloom to serve as its Chief Enrollment Officer and Associate Dean of Student Success. In this role, Maybloom will lead the institution’s recruitment efforts and will work with senior leadership and the admissions team to build a robust enrollment funnel for JTS’s undergraduate program, List College, and its four graduate schools, Kekst Graduate School, William Davidson Graduate School of Jewish Education, the H. L. Miller Cantorial School, and The Rabbinical School. He will also continue to work with the List College Dean’s Office, advising first-year students and co-teaching List 101, an introductory course, with the other deans.

Maybloom will assume his new position on July 13.

“It is a great honor to take on this role. JTS has been my professional home for the past seven years and I am thrilled to lead the Admissions team in recruiting the next generation of Jewish leaders. Missy Present, JTS’s current Chief Enrollment Officer, led the team for over 13 years, and under her guidance, JTS’s enrollment operation advanced considerably. I am grateful to have learned from her expertise and will bring that knowledge with me as I step into this role.” said Joe Maybloom, the newly appointed Chief Enrollment Officer.

“I had the pleasure of working closely with Joe when he served as Director of List College Admissions and I was the Dean of List College. It has been rewarding to see Joe grow as a professional and take on increasing responsibility in the Admissions Office, and, more recently, in the List College Dean’s Office. Joe’s professionalism, savviness, and hard work led to an increase in List College enrollment during his tenure, and advanced enrollment operations for all five of JTS’s schools. Joe’s recent work as Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Student Success increased retention in List College’s first-year class. I know he will be an asset in this next stage of JTS’s growth,” said JTS Chancellor Shuly Rubin Schwartz.

Maybloom began his tenure at JTS in 2016 as Director of List College Admissions. Over the past seven years, Joe has held numerous positions in the Admissions Office and List College Dean’s Office, most recently serving as Senior Director of Enrollment and Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Student Success. As Senior Director, Joe led the Admissions Team in the day-to-day recruitment and enrollment of new students for JTS’s five schools and oversaw the operations of the Admissions Office. He also advises first-year undergraduate students to elevate and improve the campus experience for all List College students—work that he will continue to do.

Maybloom holds a master’s degree in Theatre from Hunter College. He graduated as class valedictorian from Marymount Manhattan College with a BA in Theatre History and Theatre Performance and a minor in Mathematics.
