Refuat HaNefesh is the traditional Jewish term for healing and health that spans spiritual, emotional, and mental well-being. When Jews pray, we pray for holistic and integrated health – healing of spirit, healing of body.
This two-day conference will equip participants with the tools needed to understand spiritual care in the context of mental health. Participants will gain clarity about their role as caregivers in relation to mental health and learn different approaches to their own wellbeing.
This program is open to people of all backgrounds, particularly rabbis, cantors, educators, social workers, chaplains, and other leaders in helping professions.
Featured session leaders include:
Rabbi Naomi Kalish, PhD, Harold and Carole Wolfe Director of The Center for Pastoral Education at JTS
Sarah Klagsbrun, MD, DFAPA, DFAACP, Medical Director, Four Winds Hospital
Chaplain Lynne Mikulak, M.Div., MSW, Manager of Clinical Pastoral Education at Main Line Health
Rabbi E. Noach Shapiro, LCSW, Coordinator of Mental Health Program at the Center for Pastoral Education at JTS
Cost: $36 in-person, $15 Zoom (limited financial assistance available upon request)
This event is co-sponsored by Rabbinical Assembly, Cantors Assembly, and Neshama: Association of Jewish Chaplains.
