On Becoming an American Jewish Historian
On Becoming an American Jewish Historian
How did the study of the Jews and Judaism in the United States rise from being a small, unknown field to a popular and burgeoning discipline today? Sixteen scholars answer that question in Dr. Jeffrey Gurock’s new compendium, Conversations with Colleagues: On Becoming an American Jewish Historian.
Three of these scholars, including Dr. Shuly Rubin Schwartz, Irving Lehrman Research Associate Professor of American Jewish History at JTS, will join Dr. Gurock for a candid conversation on why this field captivated their interest and how they and their colleagues have moved their discipline into the academic mainstream.
