November 12 Lecture
“Kabbalah, Hassadism, and the Future of American Jewish Spirituality,” with Dr. Eitan Fishbane, Professor of Jewish Thought, JTS
Mysticism is the spiritual heart of Judaism, the practice and language through which Jews—from antiquity to the present—have expressed a passionate yearning for the Divine Presence. In our own time, Jewish spirituality has once again been energized by the teachings of Kabbalistic and Hasidic masters from generations past, opening contemporary Jews to a rich legacy of the Jewish people. How may we draw upon the resources of Kabbalah and Hasidism in our quest for an authentic and meaningful theology today? How might the life of mitzvot and prayer be invigorated by the imagery and ideas of Jewish mysticism?
The JTS lecture will be preceded by a class with a local clergy member.
Cost
$36 per person for the five weeks of courses and lectures.
