The Rabbinic Field Education program is an opportunity for you, as students, to take the wonderful learning that has shaped you in the classroom and apply it in the world of practical rabbinics. We in The Rabbinical School are committed to helping you gain supervised experience in a variety of settings to deepen your understanding of the spectrum of work available to rabbis.
Through the rotations program, you will be exposed to several visions of the rabbinate, and the unique roles and responsibilities which they encompass. The Rabbinic Field Education program is also structured around one in-depth internship. The internship offers you a chance to formulate your rabbinic identity with the help of a mentor who is attentive to the development of your rabbinic skills, operational theology, and personal and professional identity. In addition to working one-on-one with a mentor in a particular clinical setting, you will have the opportunity to join your rabbinical school peers in a supervision group which deepens the learning and integration process. Our aim is that, through these field-education placements, you will learn what the experience of serving as a rabbi will entail and feel well equipped for both the personal and professional challenges and the many blessings that a life in the rabbinate can bestow.
