Martin Oppenheimer

General Counsel

As general counsel of JTS, Martin Oppenheimer is responsible for managing the institution’s legal, compliance, and risk management matters. Mr. Oppenheimer joined JTS after nine years as senior counsel for business affairs at Tufts University. While at Tufts, he oversaw a broad range of transactional and regulatory issues, including operations, real estate, fund-raising, technology, investment, risk management, finance, and intellectual property matters, and the coordination of compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.

Previously Marty held legal positions at FleetBoston Financial Group; Lehman Brothers; Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton and Garrison; and Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen and Hamilton. He is a member of the finance and audit committees of the National Association of College and University Attorneys, for which he has given continuing education courses. Mr. Oppenheimer has a BA in Economics from Cornell University and a law degree from Yale Law School.
