Shavuot Webinar

Tuesday, May 26, 1:00-2:15 p.m. ET.

The Ten Commandments, read on the first day of Shavuot, are a foundational text of Judaism. But their prominence is also a puzzle. Why were these statements singled out from all other mitzvot to be publicly proclaimed to all Israel? What gives these brief pronouncements their distinctive significance?

Join Rabbi Eliezer Diamond, in conversation with Rabbi Julia Andelman, for a wide-ranging discussion of the Ten Commandments. This session will highlight the core questions addressed by each commandment and delve into several that speak to theological and interpersonal issues raised by the current pandemic.

With Rabbi Eliezer Diamond, Associate Professor of Talmud and Rabbinics, and Rabbi Julia Andelman, Director of Community Engagement, JTS.

Note: The Zoom link for this session will be in the confirmation email that you will receive after you register.
