Introduction

The Jewish Theological Seminary is pleased to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Conservative Movement's decision to ordain women. JTS and its faculty, in conjunction with the Rabbinical Assembly and Conservative synagogues across the country, played an important role in the events that led to this landmark event. Please join us as we commemorate this anniversary and pay tribute to the past, present, and future of women in the rabbinate.

This website compiles information on the history and impact of women's ordination, from the original studies and responsa written by JTS faculty members to information on a new documentary shown on ABC produced by JTS in conjunction with Diva Communications, titled "And the Gates Opened: Women in the Rabbinate."
