For generations, the emblem of The Jewish Theological Seminary, the burning bush, has stood for academic rigor and deep religious expression. It is time to add a new layer of meaning to this potent symbol: a commitment to the environment and sustainability.

JTS is taking steps to dramatically reduce our institution's impact on the environment. These steps include revitalizing recycling programs in every JTS building, examining ways to develop an environmentally sustainable cafeteria, forming a student Green Committee (EcoReps), and increasing energy efficiency in the JTS residence halls.

Chancellor Arnold Eisen has made a powerful statement about JTS's commitment to sustainability by signing the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment. You can show your commitment to a cleaner world by signing the JTS Sustainability Pledge below. In order for our efforts to be successful, we need the help of the entire student body, faculty, and staff. Help us enable the next generation to truly say, "The bush was not consumed."

Take the Sustainability Pledge and learn how you can become more environmentally conscious.
