THE JTS STRATEGIC PLAN

Abby Joseph CohenThe Jewish Theological Seminary is uniquely suited to meet the evolving educational needs of the Jewish community of North America. The new vision for JTS embraces that responsibility and provides a roadmap for the coming years. I am proud to be the chair of the Board of Trustees of JTS at this time. As the institution approaches its 125th anniversary, JTS is finding new and innovative ways to train the next generation of clergy, scholars, educators, and lay leadership. We also have a strong commitment to broaden the opportunities for serious study by all members of the community, including those beyond our traditional student body.

JTS has a distinguished history and notable resources, ranging from our superb faculty to our world-renowned library. The impetus for our strategic assessment was the strong desire to assure that these resources are appropriately matched to the changing needs of the Jewish community. Forthcoming initiatives will reflect our longstanding commitment to education firmly rooted in tradition, and to responsiveness to needs in the broader community. We believe that this approach will allow JTS to carry out its mission in a rapidly changing world.

Our institution has offered an intellectual home to several generations of religious, academic, and lay leaders. The challenges and opportunities that will face future generations may prove ever more complex. We believe that JTS can help set the stage by providing a solid foundation of study, exploration, and outreach. Please join us as we build for the future on behalf of the vital religious center.
