This hand-colored, printed map appeared within Jacobus Tirinus' book Commentarius in Vetus et Novum Testamentum (Commentary on the Old and New Testament). Oriented towards the east, the map includes the territories of the twelve tribes on both sides of the Jordan River. The inset oval map in the lower margin featuers a reproduction of an earlier view of ancient Jerusalem created by the sixteenth-century Spanish, biblical geographer, Juan Bautista Vilalpando (1552-1608). |
