Joseph Rubin, a member of the JTS Library Advisory Board for 17 years, will now serve as its chair. He is also a vice president of the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Association Serving the Aging (JASA) and chairs its Program Committee, has served on several committees with UJA-Federation of New York, and is a member of the National Council of Trustees of National Jewish Health in Denver, Colorado. A management consultant focused on the real estate and banking industries for 37 years, Mr. Rubin was a partner at Kenneth Leventhal & Company and Ernst & Young and is currently leading Pine Ledge Real Estate Advisors. Mr. Rubin did his undergraduate studies in economics and accounting at Lehigh University and earned an MBA in Finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

The Library of JTS is the home of one of the world’s greatest collections of Jewish books, Hebrew manuscripts, Haggadot, megillot, ketubbot, and historical archives. Its holdings span over one thousand years of Jewish history, illuminating the cultures, lifestyles, philosophy and customs of Jews throughout the world. As the custodians of Jewish heritage, the Library’s purpose is to inspire the Jewish future by sparking discovery of the past.

“We are so pleased that Joseph Rubin will serve as the new Library Advisory board chair,” said Dr. David Kraemer, JTS Librarian and Professor of Talmud and Rabbinics. “Joe has been a member of the Library Advisory Board for many years and has contributed significantly during his years of service. His thoughtful input and operational insight have guided us through critical strategic planning and has helped us develop a new vision for the Library as we open our new facilities.”

Designed by world renowned architects, JTS is proud to be opening a state-of-the art library on the recently renovated campus. The treasures of Jewish communities over the centuries—some surviving, some long gone—will be housed in the Library for all to explore, through in-person visits to the rare book room and exhibition space, and virtually through extensive new online programming.
