Remembering Alan Mintz z”l
Remembering Alan Mintz z”l
Wednesday, June 7, 2017
Program begins at 6:00 p.m., followed by a reception.
Please join us in celebrating the life and work of JTS’s Chana Kekst Professor of Jewish Literature Alan Mintz z”l, including remarks from colleagues and a dramatic reading from S. Y. Agnon’s Buczacz stories.
Mintz’s new book, Ancestral Tales: Reading the Buczacz Stories of S. Y. Agnon, caps a decades-long exploration of this modernist master’s art and its meaning in our own day. Colleagues and former students will offer tributes to this volume and to Mintz’s influence as a scholar and teacher. We honor his memory, and his legacy in shaping the field of modern Jewish literary studies.
Admission is free, but reservations are required. RSVP by June 5. Please arrive early and have photo ID available.
The program will be livestreamed at www.jtsa.edu/live (registration not required for livestream).
