A Discussion with Artist Avner Moriah

Avner Moriah is an Israeli artist best known for his striking on-site paintings of Israel’s landscapes and inspiring interpretation of biblical themes. A decade ago, Moriah embarked on a massive undertaking to illustrate the Pentateuch. Join us for a discussion of the final entry in this Bible-focused project, the Ganze Megillah. The illuminated scroll depicts the ancient story of Queen Esther on parchment with hand-painted watercolor, gouache, gold leaf, and calligraphy. At 54 feet long, it is the longest Scroll of Esther in existence.
Admission is free, but reservations are required. Please arrive early and have photo ID available.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Avner Moriah is an Israeli artist best known for his striking on-site paintings of Israel’s landscapes and inspiring interpretation of biblical themes. A decade ago, Moriah embarked on a massive undertaking to illustrate the Pentateuch, of which he has completed the books of Genesis, Exodus and Leviticus. His work, which brings together both West and East and past and present with a contemporary eye, can be found in major museums, libraries and private collections worldwide.
