Lunchtime Learning with JTS
Two opportunities to spend lunchtime with The Jewish Theological Seminary and encounter compelling scholarship that brings Jewish texts and wisdom to bear on contemporary challenges. All sessions meet from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m.
Series One
Rabbi Leonard Sharzer, MD, assistant professor of Jewish Thought, will explore Jewish approaches to contemporary bioethical issues.
- Thursday, January 26: “Better Than Normal? The Ethics of Enhancement”
- Thursday, February 9: “Transgender and Jewish: Legal and Theological Considerations”
- Thursday, February 23: “Religious Liberty and the Abortion Debate”

Series Two
Dr. David Kraemer, Joseph J. and Dora Abbell Librarian and professor of Talmud and Rabbinics, will discuss components of the justice system developed by Rabbinic Judaism and how it compares to the current US legal system.

- Tuesday, March 21: “Burden of Proof”
- Tuesday, April 4: “Capital Punishment”
