Davidson Student Organization (DSO)

Statement of Purpose

The Davidson Student Organization (DSO) exists to represent and serve the education students at The Jewish Theological Seminary. We actively foster community building, professional development, and Jewish and pedagogical learning. We seek to be a resource and advocate for individual students as well as the student body in areas including, but not limited to, academic, social, and spiritual growth. We work to encourage discussion, understanding, and cooperation between the students of The Davidson School and the administration, faculty, and other student bodies of JTS.

Specific programs the DSO offers include:

  • Introductory program during orientation week
  • Learning minyanim to address issues which are of interest to Davidson students
  • Monthly social activities to provide opportunities for social interaction amongst Davidson students
  • Meet the Professor lunches to provide students with the opportunity to get to know professors in an intimate, informal setting
  • Pedagogic and career-development workshops, which help students to develop their pedagogic and career knowledge
  • Community-action programs designed to help the community
