One of the very first things you should do when starting a course is to familiarize yourself with the syllabus and course requirements. To do this using Blackboard is very simple:
In the left-hand menu, click the button corresponding to your course syllabus. Depending on the professor, it may be named syllabus, course syllabus, requirements, etc.
The presentation of the syllabus also depends on the professor. He/she may post it as text that you can read and/or print upon entering the syllabus area of your course. More often, however, the professor will post it as a document, most likely a word or pdf file. To download the document to your hard drive, click on the link underneath its title:
Your professor might also opt to create a button in the course menu which links you to a list of required books or texts. This may be accessed in a similar way to the syllabus. Click on the button (usually titled Required Books or Textbooks). You will then be able to see the list of required books.
Often, your required readings will be posted to the Blackboard site by the Library. Click "Next" to learn how to access your readings.
