Gladstein Fellowship in Entrepreneurial Leadership: Timeline 2011–2015

In Year One, the Gladstein Fellow:
  • Is accepted into the Gladstein Fellowship
  • Visits one of the two Growing Communities in which there are Gladstein Fellows
  • Visits one of the two Teaching Congregations that are part of the Gladstein Fellowship Program
  • Attends the Gladstein Fellowship Emerging Kehillot Conference
In her/his Israel year (Year Two or Three), the Gladstein Fellow:
  • Serves as the rabbinic intern at Eshel Avraham in Beersheva, Israel, under the mentorship of Rabbi Mauricio Balter, and visits the community eight times
  • Attends the annual Gladstein Fellowship Emerging Kehillot Conference
In Year Two or Three at The Jewish Theological Seminary, the Gladstein Fellow:
  • Visits one of the two Growing Communities in which there are Gladstein Fellows
  • Visits one of the two Teaching Congregations that are part of the Gladstein Fellowship Program
  • Attends the Gladstein Fellowship Emerging Kehillot Conference
  • Updates and improves the fellowship website with assistance from the JTS IT and Communications departments.
In Year Four and Five, the Gladstein Fellow:
  • Interns with a Teaching Congregation / Mentoring Rabbi and lives in the congregation's community
  • Serves as Visiting Student Rabbi to a Emerging Community for no fewer than eight weekends per year, in addition to the High Holy Days
  • Develops and coordinates (Year Four) or attends (Year Five) the annual Gladstein Fellowship Emerging Kehillot Conference, which is held at the Fellow's Teaching Community.
Post-Ordination:
  • The Gladstein Fellow will serve as rabbi in an A-size congregation, as defined by the Rabbinical Assembly, for at least three years after receiving ordination

Benefits for Fellows:

Gladstein Fellows in years one, two, and three receive $5,000 or 20 percent of tuition, whichever sum is greater, in merit-based aid. Fellows in years four and five receive full fellowship funding.

Full tuition and fees is paid by the fellowship along with a matching "living stipend" which equals full tuition and fees.
