Postcard Collection

postcardThe Postcard Collection contains thousands of picture postcards, a common and reliable method for communicating brief, personal messages during the twentieth century. Postcards offer a panoramic view of Jewish daily life, both religious and secular. The collection includes:

  • Rosh Hashanah (New Year's) greeting cards
  • Synagogues from around the world
  • Portraits of "exotic" Jews from the Orient
  • Zionist postcards

Access to the collection is through the catalog. Selections from the collection may be viewed on the Past Exhibitions: Past Perfect: The Jewish Experience in Early Twentieth-Century Postcards.
