The Path to Year One

Entering The Rabbinical School

The goal of The Rabbinical School of JTS is to challenge students to develop the spiritual, intellectual, professional, and ethical qualities necessary for them to function as the religious leaders of the Jewish people. The course of study is therefore a challenging mix of primary text study and high-level coursework in fields such as philosophy, literature, and history. Professional skills and religious practice are integral to our program. We require students entering our formal program to have already established a strong foundation of Hebrew language, Torah knowledge, and religious observance.

This section includes information about prerequisites for The Rabbinical School, entrance exams, and study guides.
