Dr. Richard Kalmin is an expert on the interpretation of Jewish stories, ancient history, and the development of rabbinic literature. Dr. Kalmin is the author of a book on Babylonian Talmud and rabbinic portrayals of biblical heroes. He is coeditor, with Dr. Seth Schwartz, of Jewish Culture and Society Under the Christian Roman Empire (Peters, 2003). Dr. Kalmin contributed the introduction and a chapter titled "Holy Men, Sages, and Demonic Rabbis in Late Antiquity" to the volume. In addition to his academic work, Dr. Kalmin is a member of the Executive Board for planning and editing volume four of the Cambridge History of the Jewish People.
