JTS KOLLOT: Voices of Learning, an innovative program of adult Jewish learning piloted by The Jewish Theological Seminary, presents “Israel From Three Sides of the Same Coin,” a continuing discussion series in Palm Beach Gardens. The next program will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2009; Marian and Irving Wiseman will serve as hosts.
Kollot is Hebrew for voices. Reverence for sacred text, openness to rigorous inquiry, celebration of the contributions of modern scholarship, and appreciation for the diverse and creative approaches to Jewish tradition are the hallmarks of KOLLOT.
The upcoming program will be taught by Rabbi David Ackerman, rabbi, National Outreach, JTS. Before coming to JTS, Rabbi Ackerman was the spiritual leader of Tiferet Bet Israel in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, for more than fifteen years. It was there that he created new adult education programs; revamped Shabbat services; organized ongoing, caring community groups; created an annual interfaith education series with the local clergy association; and organized and led community trips to Israel. A graduate of JTS, where he was ordained in 1990, he received his AB degree from Princeton University.
