Kehilat Hadar is hosting Saturday morning Shabbat prayer services at The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) throughout the summer.
Services are open to the public and are being held in JTS’s Women’s League Seminary Synagogue on Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. through September 4. JTS is located at 3080 Broadway on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
Kehilat Hadar is an independent, egalitarian community committed to spirited traditional prayer, study, and social action. The community is devoted to prayer services with lively davening (recitation of prayers) and leyning (Torah reading). Services use the traditional liturgy in a halakhic framework and are marked by widespread communal participation, inspiring melodies, and thoughtful divrei Torah. Kehilat Hadar appeals to a broad section of the general Jewish community: young and old, secular and observant, straight and gay. It is dedicated to furthering openness and hospitality to both newcomers and longtime members.
