Four alumni of The Jewish Theological Seminary were named Exemplars of Excellence at the national Hillel Professional Staff Conference, attended by 700 Hillel professionals and partner agencies.
The alumni include Adina Danzig, executive director of the Stanford University Hillel, who received an MA in Jewish Studies from The Graduate School, and three graduates of The Rabbinical School: Rabbi David Levy, rabbi and advisor at Colgate University Hillel and Jewish chaplain and Hillel advisor at Hamilton College; Rabbi Esther Reed, associate director for Jewish Campus Life at Rutgers University; and Rabbi Mike Uram, associate director of the University of Pennsylvania Hillel.
Named for Richard Joel, who led Hillel as president from 1989-2003 and who is now president of Yeshiva University, the Exemplar Awards are presented to those Hillel professionals who demonstrate a solid commitment to Jewish campus life with proven success of their dedication to Hillel's mission.
“The faculty and staff of JTS pay tribute to these alumnae, who every day demonstrate their dedication to building strong communities filled with content, meaning, and Torah, and who work to increase justice and compassion in the world. They embody the best JTS has to offer to the American Jewish community” said Professor Arnold Eisen, Chancellor of JTS.
