L'shanah tovah from The Jewish Theological Seminary. For decades, JTS has served as the makom tefillah (place of prayer) for Jews of the Upper West Side and the JTS community on the High Holidays. To attend services at JTS this year, you must register in advance (see below for details).
There will be three services at JTS during the Yamim Nora'im. All three will be egalitarian, including men and women as full participants. Whether you are a well-traveled synagogue-goer or new to the path, JTS will be a warm and engaging community with which to spend these Days of Awe:
1. JTS's Main Service—Feinberg Auditorium. Conducted by Rabbi Marc Wolf and Rabbi Abigail Treu, JTS's Main Service features a traditional liturgy with kavanot (explanations). Chancellor Arnold Eisen will deliver a sermon at Kol Nidrei services.
2. Kehillah Minyan—Women's League Seminary Sanctuary. Join rabbinical students Shira Wallach and Rami Schwartzer on a journey through the High Holy Days liturgy, which will fuse traditional and contemporary melodies and modes. Space is limited.
3. On Kol Nidrei only, JTS will hold a Beit Midrash Minyan in its Eisenfeld/Duker Beit Midrash. Led by Rabbi Charlie Schwartz and Dr. Andrea Wershof Schwartz, this minyan will include congregational participation with niggunim and few interruptions.
Once again, JTS will be hosting Kehilat Hadar for Rosh Hashanah. Reservations are required and open to members of the Hadar community. For more information, please visit their website at www.kehilathadar.org.
