"The Jewish-Israeli Attitude Toward the Arabic Language, From the Nineteenth Century to the Present" will be the focus of a discussion with Dr. Shlomit Shraybom-Shivtiel at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 30. Sponsored by the Hebrew Department of The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS), the program will take place at JTS, 3080 Broadway (at 122nd Street), New York City.

In a presentation on this rarely discussed topic, Dr. Shraybom-Shivtiel will examine the Israeli cultural-linguistic point of view as a reflection of historical changes in the region. Dr. Shraybom-Shivtiel taught at Bar-Ilan University in Israel for over thirty years. She is an academic consultant for the training of Arabic teachers at Kaye Academic College in Be'er Sheva.

Admission is free, but advance registration is recommended. Guests are asked to arrive at least fifteen minutes early, and have photo ID available. For further information and to RSVP, please email or call (212) 678-8972.
