Eleven high school students from across the country have been named winners of The Jewish Theological Seminary’s (JTS) 2010 Ahavat Torah Award, presented to teens who have demonstrated a serious commitment to excellence in leadership, service, and Judaic studies.

“Devoted to intellectually rigorous study of Jewish sacred texts, dedicated to communal leadership, and committed to meaningful engagement with the larger world and its challenges, this year's JTS Ahavat Torah Award recipients are an outstanding group of young men and women. They represent the best of the Jewish future, and we are honored to recognize their accomplishments and celebrate their promise,” said Dr. Shuly Schwartz , dean of the Albert A. List College of Jewish Studies.

The award recipients, students in Jewish day high schools and Hebrew high school programs, were chosen by administrators and faculty in their schools as the students who best exemplify the criteria for the award. JTS read the nominations and ratified the winners.
