Rebecca Grabiner, associate dean of List College, is also an academic adviser for most List College students. Dean Grabiner is always happy to help with everything from choosing classes, planning ahead for study abroad and commencement, answering questions about List College academics, and much more. List College students benefit daily from her dedication, empathy, and expertise on curricular, administrative, and interpersonal issues.
In addition to her role in List College, Dean Grabiner serves as director of the Graduate School's Jewish Professional Leadership Program, a dual-degree program in which students earn an MA in Jewish Studies at JTS and an MSW or MPA from Columbia University.
Originally from Claremont, California, Dean Grabiner earned a bachelor’s degree in Romance Languages and Literatures at the University of Chicago. A graduate of the JTS / Columbia MA / MSW program, she is thrilled to have the opportunity to bring her experience in higher education and in the Jewish community to JTS. Dean Grabiner has worked at Duke and Long Island universities; Swarthmore, Haverford, and Bryn Mawr colleges; and at UJA-Federation of New York and the Jewish Outreach Institute.
In 1995, List College established a Board of Overseers to provide support for the college. Under the leadership of founding chairperson Rabbi Harold Kushner, a noted author, the board raised awareness of List College in the broader community, spearheaded the Career Development initiative, and assisted with mentoring and recruitment.
Our current board chairperson, Rachelle Kaiserman, has established a Board Scholarship Fund and works with board members to enhance the mentoring program for graduating seniors and recent graduates.
In 1996, the College and Board of Overseers launched the Links to Leadership program. Through leadership workshops, mentoring opportunities, and an annual retreat, Links to Leadership trains List College students to assume roles as the next generation of lay leaders in the Jewish community.
