Higher education often involves a time of change and personal growth. While college / graduate school is an exciting and positive experience for many people, it can also engender social, emotional, and academic difficulties. Unfortunately, sometimes people feel it is a sign of weakness or dependence to seek help—either from someone they know or from a counselor. In fact, reaching out when you're in distress is a sign of strength, and it can take courage. It is also the first step toward managing or dealing with whatever it is you're going through. Our counselors offer a safe, nonjudgmental, and confidential environment in which students will have time and space to explore what is contributing to their current distress and learn ways to cope with it.
These two sites offer information about a broad range of topics pertaining to succeeding and surviving in college and graduate school. Among them are stress management, study skills, depression, grief, anger, loneliness, sexuality, relationships, and communication skills.
