Emergency Loans

As a service to students, JTS provides a revolving, interest-free loan fund from which students may draw to meet financial emergencies. The maximum level of indebtedness to this fund which may be assumed at any time by any one student is $1,000. Loans are to be paid within one year of the date of the loan, or upon graduation or withdrawal from the school, whichever is earlier. This fund may not be used for tuition or housing fees; the director of financial aid is prepared to advise students on alternative sources of financial aid to meet these needs.

To apply for an emergency loan:

  • The student must meet with the director of financial aid;
  • At that meeting, the student completes an application for the loan which includes a schedule for repayment of the loan and a brief explanation of the reason(s) for the loan;
  • At the time of the interview, the student should be prepared to submit additional information regarding income and outstanding debts.
