Founded in 1962 by Rabbi Marshall T. Meyer (z"l), the Seminario Rabínico Latinoamericano is JTS's educational affiliate in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the academic, cultural, and religious center of the Conservative Jewish Movement (Masorti) in Latin America.
The main goal of the Seminary is to train and ordain rabbis with the aim of spreading and perpetuating Judaism in Latin American communities. Many members of the Seminario faculty were trained at JTS. Seminario students spend a year at the Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies in Israel, also a JTS affiliate, studying side-by-side with rabbinical students from New York and Israel.
