Jewish history is often seen as defined by tragedy and suffering. How do Jews identify themselves in this world? Do they see themselves only as victims? What consequences might this "victim mentality" have—both positive and negative?
In this online course we will investigate several different eras in Jewish history, from the time of the second temple through to the modern age, challenging ourselves to see Jewish history from varied perspectives. How does a multifaceted study of Jewish history help us define our own identity?
