Students in this course will conduct thorough intellectual investigations in order get to the bottom of mysteries, discrepancies, and misconduct in select Bible narratives. The students will scrutinize and decipher verses, entertain theological hypotheses, look at political and scientific interpretations (as well as historical evidence), and finally deduct their own conclusions. Some questions we will address together are: With what did the snake seduce Eve? Who really killed Goliath? Jacob’s predicament with Rachel and Leah? Was Samson a mass murderer? In all of these instances we will decide who the suspects are and what crime, if any, was committed.
