Sarah Pelee


Sarah Pelee lectures on Hebrew language at The Jewish Theological Seminary, teaching courses in Hebrew for a range of proficiency levels, from beginner to advanced.


An employee of JTS since 2000, Ms. Pelee has also taught at schools and conducted professional seminars at Tel Aviv and Bar Ilan Universities in Israel.


As an educator, she is dedicated to exploring new methods and approaches to the classroom, with the ultimate goal of improving the learning experience for her students and accommodating their diverse learning styles. During her years at JTS, Ms. Pelee has developed several new curricula for the Hebrew Language Department, including one used to teach students who intend to become educators.


Born and raised in Israel, Ms. Pelee received her bachelor's degree in Linguistics and Hebrew Literature from Tel Aviv University and a certificate in Guidance for Parents' Groups from Bar-Ilan University. She holds a master's degree in Educational Counseling from Northeastern University.


The summer of 2012 will be her ninth as an instructor in the Ivriyon project, a Hebrew-immersion program for day school teachers. Ms. Pelee is the Ivriyon program coordinator.


For the last five years, Ms. Pelee has been working closely with day school Hebrew teachers, developing new curricula and leading conferences that improve current teaching methods.
