Jewish Mysticism Through the Ages

Dr. Eitan Fishbane  

Delving in to the spiritual heart of Judaism, this course will introduce students to some of the major themes, ideas, and texts of Jewish mysticism from its origins in Antiquity through the present day.  We will study sources from the Zohar, the mystics of 16th century Tzfat, and Hasidism -- devoting special attention to mystical ideas of God, prayer, and spiritual experience.   

All readings will be made available in an electronic coursepack.
