The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) invites applications for two faculty appointments at the rank of assistant professor beginning July 1, 2014:
While both appointments are open to candidates who hold an earned doctoral degree in any field of Jewish Studies, preference will be given to those with expertise in the areas of (1) ancient Judaism or (2) Jewish thought with specialization in ethics or (3) social-scientific study of contemporary Jewish communities.

The appointments carry with them all the normal benefits and responsibilities that pertain to full-time teaching faculty. In addition to maintaining an excellent standard of teaching and an active program of research and publication, faculty members are expected to participate in activities (both within and beyond JTS) that serve the JTS mission to "integrate rigorous academic scholarship and teaching with a commitment to strengthening Jewish tradition, Jewish lives, and Jewish communities."
